Description

Voedselbos Lingehout is an organic and cooperative farming project that demonstrates how healthy vegetables, nuts, fruits, flowers, and herbs can be grown while simultaneously enhancing biodiversity, improving soil, air, and water quality, and providing a welcoming space for the local community.

The project spans 12 hectares, including 10 hectares of food forest and two hectares of an organic self-harvest market garden. It also features a flower and herb garden. As one of the largest food forests in the Netherlands, Voedselbos Lingehout has grown rapidly since planting began in 2022 and is now home to nearly 100 different species of perennial food crops.

Voedselbos Lingehout integrates food production with natural landscape elements that support wildlife and biodiversity. Hedgerows, a natural woodland, and two large ponds contribute to a thriving ecosystem.

Beyond ecological benefits, the project also plays an important social role in the region. It hosts a variety of educational activities and provides opportunities for volunteers to participate in its development and maintenance.

The Voedselbos Lingehout team consists of passionate individuals, each bringing their own expertise. They focus on maintaining the food forest, growing organic vegetables, organising educational programmes, and cultivating a diverse flower garden.

Food forest ranger Gerdien Dijkstra coordinates and oversees all activities, ensuring that Voedselbos Lingehout remains a thriving and inspiring place for generations to come.
