Scature was founded in 2024 by Bart van Beuzekom, Laura Payne, and Robert Smits, united by a shared vision: a world where nurturing the health of both people and the planet is the standard.
Instead of depleting resources, we aim to enhance value and vitality, fostering a biodiverse world of interconnected beauty, life and abundance. The key area to create this world lies in supporting local carbon farmers, as they create biodiversity while storing co2. This co2 storage and these climate positive suppliers are what companies need to get to a climate neutral future.
Especially nature-based solutions can transform current monoculture, energy-consuming agricultural practices into regenerative agricultural methods that are more resilient, store carbon and water, increase biodiversity, and benefit all life on Earth. We believe that the voluntary carbon market is a good way to help finance this transition, and that innovation is key to finding new nature-based solutions to reach this goal.
Small carbon farmers often lack the knowledge, contacts, or time to obtain the desperately needed carbon finance. This is where we come in, helping those farmers certify their carbon removal credits, connecting them to clients, and thus supporting the transition to a regenerative economy.
aart's encounter with Life in Syntropy in 2016 highlighted agriculture's role in combating climate change and producing biodiversity-positive food. Following a MSc in Quantitative Finance from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Bart began at BlackRock in London, then served as Director at ORTEC in Eswatini and Brazil. Passionate about environmental preservation, he founded Scave.world to explore regenerative agroforestry. He co-founded Scature to empower local farmers to adopt regenerative practices and produce nutrient-dense food.
Robert comes from a commercial oil and gas background and holds a technical degree from TU Delft. In early 2020, he made a pivotal life change with his family by purchasing land in Brazil and transforming a conventional farm into Projeto Maara, a permaculture and regenerative farm. Through syntropic agroforestry practices, he increased the soil organic carbon by 3% and now produces coffee, fruits, nuts, and Jussara. Returning to the Netherlands in early 2024, he is now dedicated to helping carbon farmers secure financial support through Scature.
Laura has a rich background in sustainable tourism, showcasing her long-standing commitment to supporting small farmers in Albania. As a co-founder of Albania's first adventure tour operator, she forged essential connections between farmers and tourists, driven by her passion for fostering harmony between people and the planet. Now based in the Netherlands, Laura brings this dedication to Scature, where she focuses on building partnerships that empower carbon farmers with economic opportunities and a better life.
Elton, our MSc Urban Management expert, is passionate about achieving climate resilience at scale. He handles carbon farmers and marketing performance. He also partakes in strategic planning, partnership development & data management. By staying informed about external trends, Elton helps us make strategic decisions, driving growth and success.
Ido is a BSc Honours candidate in Management of International Societal Challenges at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Currently, he is pursuing a minor in behavioral economics, gaining valuable insights to enhance our social media presence. In addition, he contributes to crafting engaging social media posts and curates content for our newsletter.
Restoring ecosystems
Restoring ecosystems requires an active approach; 'leaving it be' often isn't enough. Nature reserves where we take no action often deteriorate. We shouldn't just talk about 'protecting', but also about nourishing ecosystems. Just as we don't expect a sick person to heal simply by lying in bed, we must actively intervene to restore ecosystems.
Efficient Agriculture
The traditional agricultural system consumes much more energy than it produces, but there are alternatives that are significantly more efficient and can make our soils more fertile. Restoring devastated landscapes is possible by gradually building up nutrient-rich soils through mulching and promoting succession in ecosystems.

As a steward ship owned company, we prioritize long-term sustainability and the well-being of all stakeholders over short-term profits. Our ownership and decision-making structures are designed to ensure a commitment to social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and our company's mission. Unlike traditional shareholder-owned companies, we aim to prevent short-term profit maximization and instead focus on creating lasting positive impact for society and the environment.
90% of the carbon credit revenue is utilized for regeneration and grow the business of the carbon farmers. We welcome investors that share our mission.
At Scature, we envision a world where nurturing the health of both people and the planet is the standard. Instead of depleting resources, we aim to enhance value and vitality, fostering a biodiverse world of interconnected beauty and abundance.
To unite businesses and glocal carbon removal heroes for a regenerative economy and a more sustainable world.
The following core values guide our actions and decisions as we strive to make a meaningful and lasting contribution to a sustainable and regenerative future:
1 Syntropic Biodiversity
By prioritizing biodiversity within all systems, syntropy aims to enhance ecosystem services and to recognize humans as an integral part of the ecosystem, reduce the need for external inputs, and promote long-term sustainability and resilience.
2 Hands-on
We believe in a hands-on approach, and we're just as happy in the office as we are in the mud—visiting farmers to understand their methods and see firsthand how they store carbon and create life. This approach allows us to continuously learn and improve the solutions.
3 Joy
We believe that everything that is good in life comes from an inner joy. If something isn’t working we get bogged down in it. We get tired and won’t be able to improve or regenerate it. Therefore joy is the prime indicator to show that we’re on the right path.
4 Leading by example
By demonstrating that nature-based solutions are effective and solve many problems, we believe that others will be inspired to follow suit, leading to the regeneration of our systems.
5 Integrity
We uphold the highest standards of integrity and transparency in all our operations. We believe in honest communication, ethical decision-making, and delivering on our commitments. Trust forms the foundation of our relationships with partners and stakeholders.
