Description

Ooit aan de Amer is a collective nut and food forest located in the municipality of Drimmelen, near the Biesbosch. Led by Cédric Bousché, the project brings together co-owners who have planted over 100 nut trees along with a diverse mix of trees, shrubs, and hedges. Designed to let nature take its course, the initiative prioritizes biodiversity and carbon sequestration, with visible positive impacts emerging within the first year.

The forest was established in 2023 with 100 nut trees, complemented by smaller fruit trees, bushes, and a protective wind hedge. No tilling is practiced, and organic matter such as straw, wood chips, and grass remains on-site to enrich the soil. Pesticides and synthetic fertilizers are not used, ensuring a natural and sustainable growing environment.

Approximately 30 individuals collectively own the nut trees, each contributing to the project while following sustainable farming principles. A professional bee farm on-site further enhances pollination and biodiversity.

This nature-driven, community-focused initiative showcases how collective efforts can align with ecological principles, offering a sustainable model for carbon removal and biodiversity enhancement.
