Description

Regenerative Agroforestry offers a quadruple-win solution for CO₂ sequestration, boasting high levels of carbon capture and oxygen production. It rapidly sequesters carbon in biomass and soil, yields nutritious food, and enhances biodiversity, aligning perfectly with the goals of the European Green Deal.

This approach creates and retains water in the soil, prevents erosion, and fosters soil regeneration, with trees needing only one planting for decades to come.

The soil at Waddinxveen shows promising potential for carbon storage, with initial samples revealing high carbon levels, expected to increase further over time, particularly in forested areas.

Notably, this site's urban location provides additional benefits such as PM2.5 and nitrogen capture, reducing health risks for nearby residents. Supporting our carbon removal credits enables us to scale and sustain this vital work.

About our carbon farmer

Bart's encounter with Life in Syntropy in 2016 proved to be transformative, leading him to realize the potential of agriculture in mitigating climate change by reducing carbon in the atmosphere while simultaneously producing high-quality, biodiversity-positive food.  Driven by his passion to safeguard the environment for future generations, Bart founded Scave, where he delved into scalable regenerative agroforestry practices. Witnessing the success of establishing lands with trees absorbing carbon, he recognizes the correlation between land cultivation and biodiversity.
